Green labs communications
01
Website Management
The Green Labs program website required two years’ worth of updates. This included edits to copy, the overall site structure, additional modules on existing pages, and new pages altogether. All of these changes were done through the university-wide program, OmniUpdate. click images to increase size

Graphic Design
For the purpose of the site, social media, and print campaigns, I created several graphic design pieces. click images to increase size

Industry and Program Research
While I had knowledge of general sustainability principles when entering the role, I had little to no knowledge of how sustainable practices impacted and operated within research laboratories. I quickly became very familiar with the processes of our Green Labs initiatives in order to be an effective communicator and advocate for them.
- I researched and learned the details of our most impactful initiatives, where and when they were relevant, and how the program’s site was currently displaying them.
- I used Google Analytics to determine the strength of the current website and how to optimize the structure for our desired focuses.
- I used comparable organizations and consumer insights to determine the unique way to communicate with this niche audience.

Social Media Strategy
The program was already in possession of a Twitter account, but it was only sparingly active. I made some crucial updates to the profile itself, and with research into the academic consumer’s usage of the platform, created a plan for simple but effective activation to be put into place and continued in my absence.

Speaking at The Semester In Review
In addition to presenting this poster of my summarized work, I was chosen as 1 out of 6 students to speak at the office’s celebratory event, Semester In Review.
I kicked off the sequence of speakers, explaining the importance of sustainability in laboratories, describing my unique working relationship and role, and highlighting how our efforts would make an impact.
A snippet of the conference featuring my speech is linked at the top of the page.

Tutorial Videos
With my leaving the program, I created several website tutorial videos for the program leader and for my replacement. These videos all consisted of screen-recordings of step-by-step processes, voiceovers to describe the actions in detail, and a minimal amount of video editing to maximize efficiency.
